In the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo<\/strong> we can find an interesting and vast heritage<\/strong> religious<\/strong>with centuries of history<\/strong> and large artistic interest<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

No 16th century<\/strong> e XVII<\/strong>, Montemor-o-Novo<\/strong> lived through a period of great development<\/strong>driven by proximity to \u00c9vora<\/strong>where many important artists<\/strong> of the kingdom lived and worked. This influence was reflected in the art and architecture<\/strong> of the region, especially the mural painting<\/strong>, a tiling<\/strong> and gilded woodcarving<\/strong>that adorn churches<\/strong>, hermitages<\/strong> and others religious spaces<\/strong>.<\/p>

In addition to great monuments<\/strong>such as Igreja Matriz<\/strong>, o Convent of Our Lady of Saudation<\/strong> and Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Visita\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong>The city offers other small religious notes<\/strong>such as oratories<\/strong>, steps<\/strong> e cruises<\/strong>that testify to the devotion<\/strong> and the importance of religion<\/strong> in the lives of Montemorans over the centuries.<\/p>

Montemor-o-Novo<\/strong> is also the birthplace of S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o de Deus<\/strong>the founder of Hospitaller Order<\/strong>He dedicated his life to caring for the sick and needy.
