In 2012, Herdade do Menir was acquired by a family from the Algarve who took over the leadership of the estate and all its brands, the best-known of which is COUTEIRO-MOR from the company Menir BR Sociedade Agrícola SA.
In this context, a new range of wines emerged, which stand out for their quality - Barão Rodrigues Reserva Red and White, Ouzado and D. Gabriel.
The winery was built in 1990 and since then it has undergone successive alterations to expand and modernise it in order to respond to the increase in production and growing demand for the house's wines, as well as the company's ambition to improve the quality of its wines. Average annual production is around 150,000 litres of white and 600,000 litres of red.
The grape varieties are diverse, with 4 white varieties, namely Antão Vaz, Arinto, Roupeiro and Viognier, and 10 red varieties, including Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Argonez, Petit Verdot, Carbernet Sauvignon and others less used in the Alentejo, such as Baga and Tinto Cão.
