Montemor-o-Novo Castle Interpretive Centre

Housed in the old church of S. Tiago (14th century), the Castle Interpretive Centre is a municipal facility that shows aspects of Montemor's history and evolution since ancient times, through a permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions. You can also see the pre-existing 17th and 18th century wall paintings in the church.

Guided tours of the Interpretive Centre and Castle take place with a minimum of 10 people by prior appointment, subject to availability;

(Exempt from VAT under Article 9 (13) of the VAT Code)

Free of charge

Sundays and public holidays for all visitors;

Children up to and including 14 years old;

Associations, schools, IPSS and ATL's in the municipality - By prior appointment;

Accredited groups from Portuguese Social Solidarity Institutions or Social Action Areas of local authorities or other institutions of public interest - With prior authorisation;

Working journalists - By appointment only;

Guides/tour operators in office;

Researchers, museum and/or heritage professionals, conservators and restorers, as long as they are working;

Teachers and students from any level of education, including Senior Universities and accredited vocational training institutions, when demonstrably on a study visit - By prior appointment;

Employees of the Municipality of Montemor-o-Novo;

Users of the Mor Solidarity Card;

Former combatants and the widow or widower of a former combatant, who hold the cards referred to in the Former Combatant Statute, approved in Annex I of Law no. 46/2020, of 20 August;

Visitors with a proven disability equal to or greater than 60 % and one accompanying person;

Tourism or media professionals, including new digital platforms, provided they are accredited and working in the field;

50% discounts

Youth card holders and students;

People over 65 and pensioners;

Organised groups of more than 15 visitors, provided they request the visit in advance;

Family ticket with a discount of 50% for one accompanying person when buying 3 tickets.

Note - Documentary proof will be required to certify the gratuity or discount.
